Ever since Epic managed to solve the problem of crossplay between PS4 and Xbox One with Fortnite, fans have been wondering what games could be next on the crossplay roster.
Well, in a new interview, Overwatch director Jeff Kaplan seems to think we could be seeing PS4 and Xbox One players enjoy Overwatch together – potentially in the near future.
"We are definitely having conversations that we're interested in the thought of it," Kaplan noted to Eurogamer.
"It's very complicated – from a technology standpoint, a game design standpoint, and from a business relationship standpoint. But we would be excited to tackle all of those challenges; we would love to try."
Kaplan notes that Blizzard is "constantly in discussion" with both Microsoft and Sony talking about cross-play for Overwatch on Xbox One and PS4.
"We're super-excited about what's going on with cross-play in all sorts of different games, from Rocket League to Fortnite, and we are constantly in discussions with the first-parties, Microsoft and Sony, to see where they're at and gauge where their temperature is at," Kaplan noted in the interview with Eurogamer. "It's something that would be very exciting for us to pursue."
He concluded: "We're gamers; 'Why can't my buddies on this system or that system play together?' We sympathise with that, we want to be able to do that too."
This comes after Blizzard announced Ashe for Overwatch – the newest character in the game, and the 29th hero in the shooter.
Ashe can call upon Bob her robotic fellow gang member – who featured in the animated short Reunion – as part of her Ultra.
