Nintendo Switch Games GOOD News: BIG boost for Nintendo as console giant looks to 2019 (Pic: NINTENDO)

Nintendo has a lot to celebrate right now as Nintendo of America president Reggie-Fils Amie announced the company's games are performing better than ever.

“In terms of traditional attach rate, the Nintendo Switch is performing at historic levels,” Fils-Aime revealed in an interview with Variety.

“As we sit here today, Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Super Mario Odyssey, each one did attaching at better than 50%, meaning each of these games in the United States across the population of hardware consume one out of every two consumers that bought those games."

That's huge news – a higher attach rate than Nintendo has ever seen on any of its consoles before, a true indicator of how well the Nintendo Switch is performing.

"Weve never seen 50% attach rates to begin with and seeing that across three different games coming up on to our second holiday is completely unheard of.”

Things are also going to look remarkably strong when Nintendo looks back over Christmas sales – a period that is traditionally the best period commercial window for the company.

The Christmas period is typically a good time for gamers: not only do we see a hugely concentrated number of triple-A titles launch between Q3 and Q4, but we also tend to see great discounts on the newest and shiniest software and hardware.

Nintendo, as it happens, tends to benefit massively from this uptick in sales and interest in gaming.

Recent reports reveal that the Japanese developer and hardware giant makes an unbelievable 60% of its revenue during the holiday period alone.

“The holiday selling season — October, November and December — critically important to our company," notes Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime in an interview with Yahoo Finance.

"We typically do, in the Americas, about 60% of our revenue during that time frame.

"The reason that its so significant is first, our products make great gifts. Whether youre talking about Nintendo Switch, whether youre talking about Nintendo 2DS, we really do well with that gift-giving occasion.”

This all looks good for Nintendo as the company strives to reach its self-imposed 20 million Switches sold figure by the end of the year.

This comes as it looks like Nintendo could be moving to alter eShop and make it more customer-friendly.

in a court case, Nintendo is battling against a hacker that sold cracked versions of SNES and NES Classic machines, and the court filings in that case refer to the Nintendo Switch Online Shop (rather than eShop). A small thing potentially, but a name change could come alongside a branding change for the company.

Senior manager for publisher and developer relations for Nintendo, Damon Bake,r recently told developers:

“Weve heard the feedback from yourselves, from fans, loud and clear, about the limitations of the Nintendo eShop.

"I can assure you steps are being taken over the course of the year to improve the functionality in terms of discoverability and visibility, to highlight all of that great content.”

We'll find out if these updates are legitimate soon enough.
