We hope you're not tired of Switch Mini rumours yet, because – you know it – we've got another serving of dubious news coming your way.
Today's main course of Switch 2 rumour comes courtesy of popular accessory maker BigBen, which seems to have leaked a silicone case for a new iteration of Nintendo Switch hardware.
Tech site WinFuture has scooped the leak that seems to hint at a few new peripherals coming to BigBen's Nintendo Switch range – and one of the silicon sleeves seems to be 20% smaller than the current Switch hardware. Hmm.
The label on the product even notes that it's for a Mini Switch 2… an odd name if it's correct, but Nintendo's naming conventions are famously a bit weird (remember the New 3DS XL, right?)
Is this confirmation that we're going to be seeing a Nintendo Switch hardware revision sooner rather than later?
Possibly. Nintendo still hasn't confirmed that we'll be seeing a Switch hardware update any time soon, so take all the information here with a pinch of salt for now.
Looking at the image, you can see there are a few new things that make us think this could be a legit product for a legit piece of hardware.
There are slots in the silicone sleeve that would hint at new buttons on the Switch Mini, for example.
The left-hand side of the sleeve also has a slot for a D-Pad, rather than the four face buttons the current hardware has… something we know a lot of Switch users will be very happy with, considering the popularity of Switch JoyCon cases with D-pads on them.
This is just the latest in a slew of news stories that point towards a new Switch in the coming months – but Nintendo is keeping silent on the prospect of new hardware for now.
Take a look at the image below, courtesy of WinFuture.
Originally the Japanese Nikkei newspaper claimed the Nintendo Switch family will soon grow to encompass hardware that will be smaller and more portable.
This was followed by a new report from Bloomberg that expanded on those reports, mentioning that Nintendo could see a new release as early as this June (which, at this point, seems unlikely).
However, various Nvidia reports, as well as new updates to hardware being released by the company, present mounting evidence that more Switch hardware is in the works.
Back in June, it was discovered that Nvidia would be using the new Tegra X1 chipset in the upcoming new model of Shield TV.
This update will result in better performance and efficiency in the machine, effectively Read More – Source
