Margrethe Vestager, executive vice president of the European Commission, has gone into self-isolation after coming into contact with someone who tested positive for coronavirus.
In a tweet today, she said that “a working relation” had tested positive for the virus. “I have been tested, am now in quarantine and will work from home the coming week.”
Since the beginning of the pandemic, a number of European commissioners have had to go into quarantine, including President Ursula von der Leyen, Frans Timmermans, Valdis Dombrovskis and Stella Kyriakides.
Mariya Gabriel, the commissioner for innovation, research, culture, education and youth, tested positive for the disease.
