Sen. Lindsey Graham took a subtle jab at Democrat colleague Sen. Mazie Hirono for one of her comments made last week in regard to the handling of sexual assault allegations made against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh during his opening remarks to the Judiciary Committee on Friday morning.
Graham said, “I know I am a single white male from North Carolina, and I am told I should shut up, but I will not shut up.”
The comment was in reference to Hirono, who said men in this country need to “just shut up and step up” last week.
During his questioning of Kavanaugh Thursday, Graham shouted, “What you want to do is destroy this guys life, hold this seat open and hope you win in 2020,” Graham said.“Youve said that. Not me. Youve got nothing to apologize for. When you see Sotomayor and Kagan, tell them that Lindsey said hello because I voted for them. I would never do to them what youve done to this guy.”
Graham fumed, in one of the most theatrical moments of the hearing, “Boy, you all want power. God, I hope you never get it. I hope the American people can see through this sham — that you knew about it and you held it. You had no intention of protecting Dr. Ford. None. Shes as much of a victim as you are.”
