Fortnite DOWN: Season 7 server status news TODAY as Epic update 7.01 patch notes released (Pic: EPIC GAMES)
Fortnite is most likely set to go offline today in order to release the games forthcoming new update 7.01 – which will look to make some initial changes to the game following the launch of Season 7 last week.
As usual, you can expect Epic to drop in a good number of fixes with the new update, correcting some issues that have been bugging players since that Season 7 launch.
Likewise, we might see some balancing to the game, especially when it comes to the OP plane.
On top of the above though it's most likely we'll see some new content released too, with Epic already teasing a potential new Sword based LTM.
We can also expect to see several big game changes too, more specifically with regards to tweaking pump shotguns and the mounted turret.
But before any of this can be released Epic Games will most probably be taking the game servers offline for a period of downtime.
Last night Epic Games confirmed on their Twitter account that the new Fortnite update with drop at 10am GMT.
Server downtime wasn't mentioned but is the norm for updates such as this, and as such we would expect the game to be down for a couple of hours whilst the new update is released.

Similarly, the patch notes should become available at around the same time the game goes offline.
Although they sometimes drop a little bit early, so be on the look out before 10am GMT also.
Either way, if the game is going offline, you'll likey have something to read to keep you amused until the game comes back online.
As mentioned, it's possible we could see some new swords introduced into the game.
Sound files were already found last week before the Epic Games twitter account posted a new trailer which hinted at some sort of sword and the stone esk event.
We're certainly interested to see how the sword will work: we don't have melee weapons in the game, except for the stock harvesting tools.
Will it be a one-hit kill? Will it be able to deflect incoming fire? Will it confer mad buffs when you pick it up? We have so many questions.
In any case we should hopefully find out more today. Either in the form of confirmation, or possibly more leaks.
