Cyberpunk 2077: Bad news for RPG fans as developer confirms absence from huge gaming show (Pic: CDPR)

Bad news, Cyberpunk 2077 fans – you're not going to get any more information about the game this week.

Developer CD Projekt Red has announced that it won't be showing off its highly-anticipated RPG at The Game Awards 2018 – though we are expecting to see a massive 10 new game announcements at the show.

"We're looking forward to seeing all the reveals and announcements during this year's @thegameawards," writes Marcin Momot, the community lead for CD Projekt Red on Twitter. "However we're not going to be showing anything there ourselves. Well share more details about @cyberpunkgame when were ready."

Oh well, at least we're going to hear a lot more about other games as we hold out for a release date on the fancy-looking sci-fi opus.

The Game Awards is due to show this year on December 6th (or very early in the morning on December 7 if youre in the UK).

Last year, we saw new trailers for the likes of Death Stranding and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice unveiled at the event. We also saw wholly new games announced – Soul Calibur VI and Bayonetta 3, for example.

So its safe to say The Game Awards nets some pretty interesting exclusives – and this year promises to be no different.

In a tweet published last week, Geoff Keighley (presenter and driving force behind the huge show) announced there would be no less than TEN new game announcements at the show.

Thats a massive number. And when you think back to last year and the triple-A level titles that were unveiled, its safe to assume that these arent just going to be small, indie announcements: these are going to be some pretty ground-breaking reveals.

But what can we expect? There have been precious few leaks so far, but The Game Awards Twitter account itself has outlined some interesting reveals we can expect to hear about.

“Next Thursday, don't miss the global announcement and reveal of the new RPG from @obsidian and @privatedivision live at #TheGameAwards” tweeted the official TGA account earlier this week.

Were also expecting to see more from Anthem – EAs upcoming shared-world shooter. “Don't miss an exclusive new look at @anthemgame during #TheGameAwards next Thursday night,” reads another tweet.

That still leaves 9 unannounced or unteased games to come, and a slew of new updates for existing titles. Are you excited? Are you expecting anything out of left field to hit?

Make sure to tune in to The Game Awards at 1.30am Friday 7th December to see all the action live as it happens (dont worry: well be up covering the show as it happens so you can read up on everything you need to know by the time you wake up!)
