The main character from The Witcher 3 is set to appear in someone else’s game this year, and it seems pretty obvious which one.
Game review: Life Is Strange: Before The Storm Bonus Episode is a last farewell
As soon as SoulCalibur VI was announced the first thing everyone started asking was who would be the guest characters.
The series has a long history of featuring characters from other games and media, from Nintendo’s Link to Spawn, Darth Vader, and Ezio from Assassin’s Creed II.
The latter in particular made fans suspect that Geralt from The Witcher might be an obvious pick for the new game, and now it’s looking like it might be true.
The tweet below is from one of CD Projekt RED’s community managers, and states that Geralt will be appearing in a game this year that is not a Witcher title.
There’s nothing about SoulCalibur, but it’s hard to think of any other game that could be more fitting given The Witcher’s fantasy medieval setting. Also, Bandai Namco published The Witcher 3 in Europe, so the two companies have already worked together.
There is God Of War, and CD Projekt also have a good relationship with Sony, but that seems the only other either guessable choice.

If it is SoulCalibur VI then the question is whether the game will have different guest stars depending on the format. That’s how it used to work in the older games, but with SoulCalibur V it was just Ezio for everyone – so that may be how things are from now on.
Of course, the irony is that combat is easily the weakest element of The Witcher 3, but maybe CD Projekt can learn a thing or two from Bandai Namco.
SoulCalibur VI is due for release this year, on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC, but does not currently have a release date.
