Bengaluru: Amazons India head Amit Agarwal has become the chairperson of the Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI). He takes over from Rajan Anandan, who was earlier Googles Southeast Asia and India vice-president.

Dhruv Shringi, CEO, Yatra, is the vice-chairman, taking over from Deep Kalra, founder of MakeMyTrip.

Satyan Gajwani, vice-chairman of Times Internet, has been elected the new treasurer of the association. Times Internet is a part of The Times group which publishes this paper.

Agarwals appointment comes at a time when Amazon India and Flipkart are pushing the government for more favourable ecommerce policies after it disallowed these technology firms from owning inventory and pushing own brands, and asked them to cut down on heavy discounting.

IAMAI is a not-for-profit industry body dedicated to representing internet businesses before the government, investors, consumers and other stakeholders.
