The Netherlands exported 5% more goods in August than during the same month last year, but the figure is only up 1.7% on August 2019, national statistics agency CBS said on Tuesday. In particular, more machinery, chemicals and metal products were exported by Dutch companies in August, the CBS said. At the same time, imports were up 6.1% year and year and 1.1% when compared with the pre-coronavirus period in 2019. The CBS also suggests that October’s figures will be less promising than those of August, due in part to German industrial production being lower than earlier forecasts.
