Yoshis Crafted World – out the same day as Brexit

Nintendo has given a firm release date to its new Yoshi game, as well as Kirbys Extra Epic Yarn on 3DS.

New Super Mario Bros. U DeluxeGame review: New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe is Mario by numbers

Were already well into the second week of 2019 and theres still no sign of a new Nintendo Direct, something which does usually happen in January.

So while Nintendo has already promised a number of new games for this year – including Fire Emblem: Three Houses, Pokémon, Luigis Mansion 3, and Animal Crossing – none of them have a specific release date yet.

The only one that does is New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe, which weve just reviewed and is out on Friday, and now Yoshis Crafted World – which will be released on March 29.

Yoshis Crafted World has had a relatively unusual history, as it was announced way back at E3 2017 and yet has only been seen in public once and only recently got a proper name.

Its a 2D platformer, as most Yoshi titles tend to be, but with a paper craft theme instead of the woollen one of the last game.

What we saw of it a while back it seemed to be more puzzle-orientated than unusual, with the ability to flip stages around and play them backwards. Theres also a promised two-player co-op mode.

Also announced at the same time is Kirbys Extra Epic Yarn for the 3DS, which is out on March 8. Its a port of the Kirbys Epic Yarn on the Wii, which is one of the best in the series and a spiritual predecessor to Yoshis Woolly World.

The extra bits in the title include new mini-games and a hard mode, as well as a number of Ravel abilities that offer various power-up attacks such as a wire sword and a nylon ability that can generate high winds for higher jumping.
