Head of Microsoft Studios Mat Booty took to the stage at Xbox's X018 Event to announce some HUGE news for Xbox fans.

For his first time on the X0 show floor, Booty had the pleasure of announcing Microsoft is acquiring Brian Fargo's inExile Entertainment (who you may know from the Wasteland franchise)

Fargo himself noted that joining MS Studios allows the developer to tap into the MS resources, and it'll help the studio produce more RPGs, without affecting the DNA of the studio.

That wasn't all though, because Mat Booty followed this up by announcing that Microsoft have also acquired Obsidian Entertainment.

You'll know doubt recognise the famed developer for numerous role-playing games like Fallout: New Vegas, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2 – The Sith Lords, South Park: The Stick of Truth, and the Pillars of Eternity series.

In a statement sent to Eurogamer, Microsoft said of Obsidian:

"As one of the industry's premiere RPG developers, we couldn't be more excited about the opportunity to add their expertise to Microsoft Studios, while enabling the studio to preserve its unique culture and build on its talent and vision to fully realise their creative ambitions."

Speaking about inXile, Microsoft also added:

"As part of Microsoft Studios, inXile will have the support and freedom to fully realise its creative ambitions on both existing franchises and new projects.

"The studio will continue to operate autonomously and bring its unique talents, IP and expertise to Microsoft Studios as they build new RPG experiences for our players and fans."

Stay tuned for more details.
