Nintendo Switch - is it worth your while?

Is this Nintendos best console?

A reader explains why hes happy that the Switch is his only current gen console and how it could end up being his favourite console ever.

Im not going to pretend at all during this feature: I love Nintendo. I have been a Nintendo fan since the SNES days. I have owned other consoles and games and do enjoy them, but I always find myself going back to Nintendo.

I can only afford one console at the moment. Even though there are games I want on the other formats that I really want to play, I knew instantly that I wanted the Switch as soon as I heard the rumours about it.

I travel to work on the train so a console you can play on the go and at home is just an awesome idea.

Let me tell you about my day. I get up for work at 6am and I play my Switch up until 7am when I get ready for work. I take my Switch with me and play it on the train. Sometimes I play it during my 15 minute breaks as well. Then on my way home I play it on the train again and then play it when I get home. So yeah, even my work days now feel like Im playing a game all day and with the sleep mode you can go straight into the game, perfect for my day.

So the Switch makes me watch that clock, ready to collect my next moon. It gives me time to think on how I finish that shrine that I have been stuck on. When I get that eureka moment its satisfying knowing I havent wasted game time thinking about it.

That is just playing on my own, I bring Mario Kart 8 or 1-2-Switch in and during lunch me and my mates battle it out. They love it too and its the highlight of the day.

It was said that the Switch didnt have many games to begin with and that there is also a barren spell at the moment. Well, I have plenty of games to play. I currently have nine Switch games that I need to play, plus about the same number of indie titles as well.

My favourite console has always been the N64, because I believe the console is only as good as its games. The Switch is a great idea but not backed up with top quality games and it becomes like the Wii: a good idea that quickly gets old. But with Super Mario Odyssey and Zelda it has amazing games and in my opinion two of the best in the series. (Time will tell if they beat their N64 counterparts as the best games ever).

You also have great games like Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle, a gem of a game. I also have Doom; love that game, I thought I would get annoyed by the amount of enemies they throw at you but it really doesnt. Its amazing to think that Doom and Skyrim can even be on the Switch.

Plus, this Christmas is going to be jam-packed as well. I cant explain how excited I am about Super Smash Bros., but also Pokémon: Lets Go! Eevee and Pikachu. I know a lot of people dont consider Mario party a big game but I really do. I always look for the next Mario Party. I love that series.

Like I said earlier, I judge a console on how many awesome games there is on it. Apart from 1-2-Switch, that is only fun for 10 minutes, there is no other game that I have bought that has been a disappointment. I really think the Switch could become my favourite console of all time. The N64 has held that crown for so long now but it might have finally been dethroned.
