Sea Of Thieves has finally been released upon the world allowing players to become a pirate and explore the mysterious islands for prized loot.

From your plundering adventures you may have spotted a cloud shaped like a skull hovering over the island – but what exactly do they do?

While you may be tempted to abandon ship clutching to your captured animals, the skull clouds are actually something you should actively seek.

The clouds represent Cursed Islands which are two world events to be found in Sea Of Thieves, where you can kill hordes of skeletons and collect their loot remains.

The foes you’ll face will include a variety of skeletons including your standard white, slightly stronger blue ones and the fearsome gold enemies – with the enemies being split into waves.

To complete the island you’ll have to finish off the Captain of the skeletons, who will emerge once the waves have been dealt with and will drop the key to open the treasure room.

The other world event currently available involves the mighty Kraken sea creature – which probably requires an even healthier amount of bananas.

Sea Of Thieves is available on Xbox One and PC now.
