Insane Clown Posse and Limp Bizkit are said to be engaged in a feud of rockstars that dates back two decades – but it all came to a head on Saturday night when Shaggy 2 Dope attempted to drop-kick Fred Durst as he performed onstage.

Or was it all as it appeared?

As Fred screamed into the mic during a cover of George Michaels Faith at the Rock Allegiance Festival in Camden, New Jersey, over the weekend, one half of ICP stormed the stage and attempted the crafty, but violent, manoeuvre.

However, he came just short, as instead of making any real contact with Limp Bizkits frontman, he simply grazed his neck and back with his flip flop, before landing on the ground.

Three burly guards then swiftly intercepted and carried 43-year-old Shaggy – real name Joseph William Utsler – from the stage as the audience booed and Fred looked a little confused.

The Behind Blue Eyes singer seemingly didnt know who had attempted to attack him, telling the crowd: What a pussy, he couldnt even pull it off.

The 48-year-old then added to security: Its just one guy…calm down.

In one extra hit of shade, he said: Lets give that guy a hand, before the audience all started clapping.

However, the two groups have collaborated in the past on 2012s cover of AMGs Bitch Better Have My Money, with the other half of ICP praising Fred for being cool as fuck.

Well, we wouldnt say we are close to Fred Durst, but were defiantly cool with him, Violent J told the Hatchet Herald the same year. …Back then, we liked some of what we heard, of course, but we left it alone. I wont lie; it was way too popular for us. But as you know, theres a time limit when youre on top like that. When that time runs out, then you gotta scoot the fuck down over.

Here we are a full decade later or so and Shaggy and me are sittin there thinking of who we could get for these crazy collabos. Who would people never expect to hear on a track with ICP? And who would be down to do it? Bang! Nobody would ever expect an ICP/ Fred Durst collabo!

We reached out and turns out, and I cant lie, he was cool as fuck. We got him on the phone and kicked it for days. He definitely has mad respect for ICP. He said hes always dug our shit but figured we would hate on him if he ever said anything about it. He was cool as hell about everything. We [were] shocked.

Nearly as shocked as fans were to see such a display on stage, we dare say.

However, what on earth has caused this potential beef?

One Reddit user had a thought, as they suggested the two had a thing that stemmed from a meeting 20 years ago.

Well it all started 20 years ago when ICP was trying their hardest to sell out. They performed at Woodstock and after was told “Fred wants to meet with you” they had no idea who the fuck Fred was, they wrote. I guess Fred Durst was a mega superstar and egoed out on them hard like wouldnt look at them or anything while he talked.

He invited them on the Family Values tour with Korn and all those bands then at the last minute told them to fuck off outside and booted them. They were on this huge festival show Monster sponsored together and Im assuming he was a c*nt again.

Doesnt really line up with Violent Js thoughts on their 2012 collaboration, which would have happened after this alleged beef kicked off, however.

Which might link up with a theory, as another Reddit user proffered Shaggys failed move was deliberate.

They commented: This is a classic wrestling dropkick (as in, not real), and obviously Shaggy is a wrestler.

This was most likely some dumb idea of a prank, he definitely wasnt trying to hit it.
