Uncharted 5: New PS4 game release date news, Sony development updates for PS5 game? (Pic: SONY)

Sony is having a blinder of a generation as far as its first-party titles go.

The company has released some massive PS4 hits so far, from Horizon: Zero Dawn (courtesy of Guerrilla Games) to God of War (thanks, Sony Santa Monica).

The publisher is perhaps feeling pretty confident, then – after all, these successes have led the company to double down on its narrative storytelling games as we get closer to the releases of titles like Death Stranding, The Last of Us 2 and the rumoured God of War 2.

But what about Sony's other mascot franchise this gen – Uncharted? Well, there could be some good news coming for fans of the series.

According to new job listings from Sony, it looks like we're going to see another development team join the impressive roster already on the books under the publisher.

The job listing is for the Visual Arts Service Group – a division within Sony that specializes in motion capture and graphical research (the division helped deliver some of the assets and mo-cap for God of War for example).

The new job listings for the development require the applicant to have a “penchant” for third-person action games and notes they'll be working with a major studio at Sony.

Thanks to some research from users on ResetEra, we can see that an unannounced Naughty Dog game is in the works, too… could these projects be linked? Could this be the first whisper of Uncharted 5?

The aforementioned job listing notes: “The new game development team will leverage our existing expertise and talent, guaranteeing a high visual bar for the title.”

Naughty Dog and Sony haven't outright confirmed a new Uncharted game, but since its one of the PlayStation's flagship titles, we'd be remiss to think there isn't another one in the works.

Thing is, if it is real, it's almost certainly going to be a PS5 game – and doesn't the thought of daddy Drake and his family exploring the world with next-gen power behind it just make you feel all warm inside?
