The new Tomb Raider will be official reveal tomorrow, but is being billed as the ‘climatic finale’ of Lara Croft’s origin story.
Game review: Kirby Star Allies makes you wonder who the villain is
So far this month we’ve had Ubisoft accidentally leaking The Division 2, Sega leaking their new Mega Drive collection, and now Square Enix leaking Shadow Of The Tomb Raider. Who needs unnamed industry sources when most games companies will spoil their own secrets perfectly well on their own?
The latest mess-up involves Shadow Of The Tomb Raider, whose cat was already let out of the bag when someone caught a marketing person looking at it on their laptop on the tube. And then after that some artwork leaked out that seemed to confirm the name at the very least.
The most compelling evidence though comes from Square Enix’s own website, which fans discovered has HTML code which refers to an official unveiling tomorrow and a release date of September 14.
Currently the official Tomb Raider website has the imagine above, indicating an official reveal at what is 1pm GMT tomorrow.
The game itself is described as the ‘climatic finale of Lara’s origin story’, although whether that implies the next game after this will be a reboot isn’t clear. One rumour is that the series will then switch to an older Lara for a new trilogy.
The code also specifies a release on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC, with no mention of any kind of exclusivity deal – unlike the last game.

As many suspected, Square Enix seems to have been waiting for the release of the new movie to announce the game. Although equally as expected the early reviews seem pretty negative.
Hopefully the game will be better…
