Serena Williams lost to Angelique Kerber in the final of Wimbledon 2018.

And the 36-year-old, who gave birth to daughter Alexis Olympia Jr just last year, revealed her fellow mums were the driving force behind her competition.

Speaking after the game at Centre Court, the visibly emotional tennis legend explained: It was such an amazing tournament for me.

Anyone else need a tissue after that?

A string of famous faces watched on as Serena took on Angelique in this years final, including Kate Middleton and close pal Meghan Markle.

Wimbledon was only her fourth competitive tournament since coming back to tennis after maternity leave.

And it seems the competition took its toll on the athlete, after she revealed she missed out on a major milestone with her daughter, while training.

Taking to Twitter, Serena – who married husband Alexis last year – told her 10.6million followers she wasnt there to see the moment the little one started walking for the first time.

She took her first steps… I was training and missed it. I cried, she tweeted.

But she revealed fans reactions to her post made her feel instantly better about the whole thing.

Speaking in a press conference earlier this week, she confessed: It was so positive. So many people, basically everyone in the mentions was like, “Oh, so did I. Its no big deal”. Or, “I was at work, I was here.”

I was just like, “Wow”. I didnt know that was a common thing. I felt really glad that I posted that. I instantly felt better from all the moms and dads that were posting that its totally.

Then they were posting, “Dont be too hard on yourself”. They shared all their moments, she added. I love that. I love that about the opportunity to get feedback.
