Rylan Clark-Neal has confirmed he will be replacing Zoe Ball on BBC Radio 2 when she moves to the Breakfast show in early 2019.

Very excited to be joining the @BBCRadio2 family taking over from the amazing @ZoeTheBall in the new year, he tweeted on Thursday morning.

I had the best time covering for Zoe and am looking forward to bringing you a BRAND NEW show for Saturday afternoons. I cant wait.

Rylan first sat in for Zoe in the summer and was a hit with listeners; the Saturday afternoon show runs from 3pm – 6pm and has a weekly audience of 1.75 million.

Im so excited and honoured to be joining the BBC Radio 2 family. After stepping in for the amazing Zoe Ball over the summer, working with her fantastic team, Im thrilled that Ill be working with them again to fill listeners Saturday afternoons with fun, great music and a lot of laughter, he added in a full statement.

I wish Zoe every success as the stations new Breakfast Show host and Im sure shes going to be as brilliant as she always has been. I cant wait to get started and look forward to being in the studio from the New Year.

The 30-year-old has become a household name in the last six years since he came to attention on the 2012 season of The X Factor.

He infamously broke down in hysterics when he was told he had made it through to the live finals.

He went on to come fifth before winning Celebrity Big Brother in 2013, and hosting shows including Big Brothers Bit On The Side and ITVs This Morning.

Rylan was nominated for Best Presenter at the 2016 and 2017 National Television Awards and won thee Radio Times TV Presenter Champion in 2017.
