Red Dead Redemption 2 Good News: Rockstar update the perfect news for PS4 and Xbox owners (Pic: ROCKSTAR)

Red Dead Redemption 2 is getting closer to launch, and as its release date nears, some fans are worried they'll have to delete more content off their machines in order to install the game.

But Rockstar has released some good news for fans worried about the install size of the title.

With many games (like the recently released Call of Duty: Black Ops IIII) weighing in at over 100GB when the Day One patch has been installed, it's reassuring to see titles come in at a more… moderate… size.

Well, new rumours suggest RDR2 will be a bit more generous on your hard drive.

According to Red Dead News on Twitter, the game will be half the size of some modern titles.

"LEAK: Red Dead Redemption 2 is apparently 50GB in size with a 3GB patch on a regular PlayStation 4" reads a tweet from the account.

So that's good news for people thinking they may have had to delete pretty much everything off their machine if they wanted to fit Red Dead onto their consoles.

This isn't the first leak we've seen from Red Dead Redemption 2 in recent days, either – earlier in the week, we saw all the trophy data from the game leak, revealing that Rockstar is really pushing players to explore the online side of the title (which, of course, doesn't go live until a month or so after the game has launched).

This contrasts to an earlier report that suggested that the game may have needed a whopping 105GB of space.

"The 105GB report is just an exaggerated number to make sure you have enough space – companies do it all the time," reads another tweet from Red Dead News.

"PS4 Pro and normal PS4 won't have much difference between them."

Red Dead Redemption 2 is coming October 26th for Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
