Red Dead Redemption 2 was one of the most anticipated games of the year and it delivered in spades upon release.

Rockstar Games wild-west sequel had the single-biggest opening weekend in the history of entertainment, with over £570million in worldwide retail sales during its first three days.

If that wasn't enough, it followed it up on Monday with the biggest second week sales of any title this year.

However, that is only the first step for the game, with fans now eagerly awaiting the online multiplayer function, Red Dead Online.

Rockstar Games revealed: “We're excited to announce Red Dead Online, a new online connected experience set against the backdrop of Red Dead Redemption 2's enormous open world.”

Not many details have been announced about the Online Multiplayer game, but here we reveal all there is to know so far.

What is Read Dead Online?

Red Dead Online will be the online multiplayer component of RDR2, similar to what GTA Online is to GTA 5.

Red Dead Online and Red Dead Redemption 2 are considered two separate games, according to Rockstar Games.

Players will be able to explore the open-world environment alone or with friends.

It will even have its own storyline to follow.

Rockstar have ensured and there will be both “competitive and cooperative gameplay”.

Red Dead Online release date:

Red Dead Online doesnt have a specific release date.

However, Rockstar Games have revealed: “Red Dead Online is planned for launch in November 2018, initially as a public beta, with more news to come soon.”

When it does release it will be free to play for anyone who has bought the PS4 or Xbox One versions of RDR2.

Red Dead Online beta release date:

An official release date has not been given for the Red Dead Online beta.

However, we know it will be in November 2018, and if it sticks to their previous schedules, it could be out on November 9.

GTA Online released exactly two weeks after the launch of GTA 5.

It will be a public beta, which means everyone who has bought a copy of the game for console will be able to play it.

The Online Multiplayer component of the game will take place in the same frontier open-world map as RDR2.

The announcement revealed: “Using the gameplay of the upcoming Red Dead Redemption 2 as a foundation, Red Dead Online will be ready to be explored alone or with friends, and will also feature constant updates and adjustments to grow and evolve this experience for all players.”

However, some fans believe Mexico could be one of the new locations in the online multiplayer version.

Some fans discovered a glitch in the game which allowed players to cross the border, to find a whole not of empty space.

Now rumours are swirling about this potentially being a place which could be used for the online multiplayer aspect of the game.

Red Dead Online gameplay:

There is a rumour swirling around Red Dead Online could feature a Battle Royale Mode.

Battle Royale seems to be a popular online trend, looking at the likes of Call of Duty Black Ops 4, with its Blackout mode.

Now fans think believe leaked information points to a Red Dead Online Battle Royale mode.

UK website Trusted Reviews posted an article in February 2018, which has now been replaced with an apology.

The article announced the upcoming online game would feature a battle royale mode.
