Next month, da:ns festival will put a spotlight on different bodies and diversity in dance.

The annual dance festival by the Esplanade will run from Oct 10 to 20, with headline acts such as superstar Cuban dancer Carlos Acosta, who rose from poverty to become the first black principal dancer of the Royal Ballet in London; German dramaturg Raimund Hoghe, who does not have the typical body type of a dancer and aims to upend traditional notions of the body in dance; as well as a street dance extravaganza.
