A new job listing on LinkedIn appears to reveal that Sony is ramping up its PS5 marketing team ahead of a potential reveal and release soon.

As we're seeing Microsoft announce more information regarding its Xbox Scarlett project and the xCloud platform it's built on, we're seeing Sony gather staff behind the scenes to ready a formal announcement of its next PlayStation console.

On LinkedIn, the new job listing for Senior Product Manager states (bold for emphasis):

"At PlayStation we are working at the frontiers of immersive experiences for our users. We are looking for an entrepreneurial Product Lead to join our Intelligence Platform Group. As part of this hands-on position you would work across Partners, Product and Engineering and contribute to development and growth of PlayStation Intelligence Platform.

"You will own the roadmap for next generation PlayStation campaign."

It's interesting to note that Sony is looking for a senior project manager at this stage.

The job listing, which was originally found by TheRaidenPT over on ResetEra, was posted with an interesting insight from the user, who seems to have knowledge of this sort of recruitment process.

"I work with tons of marketing agencies and when we are going to launch a product we usually start searching for talent to join our teams between 12-16 months before hand, so we can take the concept roadmap into a "real thing and possible thing"," writes TheRaidenPT

"At this time it seems like they are still in marketing concept phase and are gearing up to turn it into a reality soon enough."

This comes shortly after comments from John Kodera, CEO of SIE, who declared that the PS4 had entered the "final phase" of its life cycle, as well as comments from Shuhei Yoshida who noted it is necessary to have a next-generation hardware" to replace the PlayStation 4, which is now 5 years old.

President and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment America – Shawn Layden – confirmed in an Interview during E3 2017 that the PS5 is coming, but equally the console would “probably be some time” before being announced by the company.

We believe an announcement will likely arrive at E3 2019, with a view to Sony releasing the PS5 in 2020.
