PS5 News: Bad games news for Sony PlayStation 5 is still good news for PS4, EA confirms (Pic: DS)

It's been a busy week for Sony's PS4. Between the release of various data pointing to glowing October sales numbers across the world and the incredible Black Friday deals, there's no shortage of good news for the existing PlayStation console.

But, there's even more cause for celebration.

It's been confirmed that Anthem, a new shared world shooter revolving around loot, mech suits and exploration created by Bioware is coming out in 2019.

That might sound like a daft thing to read, because, a February 22, 2019 release date had already been pretty much confirmed by the team at Bioware.

But in the last week, the game and release date has been called into question leading many to believe that development might not be running quite so smoothly.

The rumours originated from a user on Reddit, but before you scoff and click that back button, their is some reliability to this hearsay.

That's because the rumours came from the Reddit user, RuthenicCookie. The same Reddit user who correctly called out PlayStation's impending announcement that they were dropping out of E3 2019.

The user returned to share a whole load of information relating to the possible specs for the PS5.

But, he also intriguingly had some rather specific and worrying news about Anthem.

"Anthem is a mess on this-gen consoles. It's going to get delayed again," claimed RuthenicCookie.

At the time, it was hard to argue against such rumours being ultimately true, especially with the use already have some sort of inside track on Sony's 2019 plans.

However, Anthem's own Lead Producer, Ben Irving, has appeared to have poured cold water on any such delay whilst writing on the official Anthem's Discord server.

In fact, replying to one user on the discord Irving said: "Are you talking about Anthem being delayed? That's not a thing".

Though bad news for anyone hoping to see Anthem transition to next-gen consoles like the PS5, it does mean we can look forward to at least one more excellent new addition to the PS4 (and Xbox) lineup in 2019.

It's also positive for the future of Bioware, who haven't had that smooth a ride since the underwhelming release of Mass Effect Andromeda and after some comments earlier this week seemed to hint that the next Dragon Age game from Bioware was also encountering a few issues.

After a series of updates from BioWare staff in the past few months it had seemed to hint at the future of Dragon Age being in safe hands, but this fresh update from a BioWare writer seems to suggest there are some issues out at BioWare.

Patrick Weekes – a writer for BioWare – this week tweeted a fairly ominous tweet that seems to suggest the unannounced fourth game is struggling in development.

"Happy fourth birthday to #DragonAgeInquisition. Whatever happens in the future, Im proud to have been part of a team committed to making its players lives better," tweeted Weekes.

"We have some of the best, geekiest, most passionate fans in the world, and my life is better for knowing you."
