PS4 Games Update: Medievil Release Date leaked by new PlayStation merchandise? (Pic: SONY)

The past two years has seen an influx of PS1 classics seeing remakes and at the tail end of last year, action-adventure hack and slash MediEvil joined that line up.

An announcement trailer teased ever-eager fans with a 2019 release date and little else and theres been no word on any specifics since.

However, earlier this week retailer Forbidden Planet unveiled a hearty selection of merchandise available for purchase on June 2, 2019.

The variety of coasters, mugs, coffee holders and t-shirts all sporting the face of the series undead protagonist look to make a fine addition to any fans collection.

These items would perfectly accompany the release of the remake and it certainly makes the date suggested a lot more believable.

Sonys first State Of Play stream also occurred earlier in the week and its hard to deny the small fire of hope that burned fiercely for more information regarding the remake.

Especially with the promise of plenty to be unveiled during the stream.

Unfortunately, in the absence of anything MediEvil related viewers instead had heaps of upcoming VR content crammed down their throats

As great as it was to have a myriad of VR-centered titles showcased, it was an undeniable disappointment not to see the iconic skeleton steal the spotlight.
