PS Plus to stop offering PS3 and PS Vita games next year – Bloodborne coming this month
All good things must come to an end

In 12 months time there’ll no more free games for Sony’s older consoles, but the PS4 is getting Bloodborne and Ratchet & Clank this March.

It had to stop sometime, and so in order to prevent anyone wasting their money on a yearly subscription Sony has given fair warning that there will be no more free PlayStation Plus games for either PlayStation 3 or PS Vita after 8 March 2019.

You’ll still be able to play and download any games you get before that, as long as you stay a PS Plus subscriber, but this time next year will be the last time you’ll get anything new.

After that the only free games will be for the PlayStation 4. Which seems fair enough in terms of the aging PlayStation 3, but some may feel it’s a little early to be giving up on the PS Vita.

In what may or may not be a coincidence March’s line-up of free PlayStation 4 games is particularly good, and includes all-time classic Bloodborne – arguably the best exclusive on the format.

There’s also the remake of Ratchet & Clank, which is also very good.

The two PlayStation 3 games of the month are remaster Legend of Kay Anniversary and the really rather awful Mega Man homage Mighty No. 9, which also works on PS Vita.

The two PS Vita picks are also available on PlayStation 4, but we have to admit we’ve never heard of them before: Bombing Busters and Claire: Extended Cut.

All the games will become available on Tuesday, March 6.

Which means you’ve still got a few days left to download February’s titles, which include Knack, RiME, StarBlood Arena, Spelunker HD, Mugen Souls Z, Exiles End, and Grand Kingdom.
