The accident happened on takeoff and a law enforcement source at Teterboro told the publication that the pilot circled back around to perform an emergency landing after discovering what had happened.
An insider also revealed that air traffic control told the pilot to continue the flight to Massachusetts in order to burn more fuel so that it would be safer for a possible crash landing.
The plane reportedly had 3,700 gallons of fuel left to burn.
Audio from the plane was captured with the pilot demanding that they turned back round.
They can be heard saying: Weve just had a tyre blew so we need to come back.
Just thought we blew a tyre, we just blew a tyre, so were going to have to come back.
They added: Were not going to declare it an emergency but wed like to head back.
