Secretary of State Mike Pompeo dismantled the idea that Iran is better off without U.S. involvement in the Iran Nuclear deal.
As to the idea of whether or not Iran felt less constrained now that the Trump administration pulled out of the Iran Deal, Pompeo had a concise answer: “Thats ludicrous.”
“Its ludicrous to suggest that Iran feels less constrained,” Pompeo elaborated. He stated that Iran fired missiles into a Riyadh airport where Americans often travel, adding that Iran has also “fired missiles into Israel.”
Pompeo also stated that he “thought that they behaved with impunity,” and that the JCPOA did not hold Iran back from meddling in other regional countries.
“They watched Europe put exactly zero sanctions on their missile program during the JCPOA,” Pompeo said, adding that the regime needs “to explain why its the case that while this agreement was in place, Iran continued its march across the Middle East.”
