Pokemon Day is coming up, and that could mean something very exciting for Pokemon fans.
Pokemon Day has traditionally been a day where the Pokemon Company celebrates its famous brand and reveals new information about upcoming projects – whether that's films, TCG updates, new games or something else entirely.
This year, we could see Pokemon Day reveal the first proper information about the Pokemon game coming to Nintendo Switch.
Pokemon Sun and Moon – the most recent mainline games in the series – were first announced in February 2016 through a special Nintendo Direct on Pokemon Day, following which both Sun and Moon were released worldwide in November 2016, commemorating the franchise's 20th anniversary.
That means it's certainly possible that Nintendo and the Pokemon Company will repeat history here two years later, meaning we'll see the games formally revealed this month and then released later this year – something Nintendo has already announced it's targeting.
But there's also more good news for Pokemon fans.
Nintendo Switch 2018: Rumoured games coming to the console
Nintendo Switch had a great first year, full of exclusives and third party games. Here's a few more confirmed or rumoured to be coming to the console in 2018 and beyond.
Japanese TV show Oha Suta has announced it has some big news to share on Pokemon Day, too.
The show has announced they'll be announcing something that is likely to be teased beforehand – meaning we could see Game Freak or the Pokemon Company hint at something over the next seven days.
Since the announcement, it looks like the official Pokemon Twitter account has even started a countdown of some kind.

This comes after new Pokemon Nintendo Switch rumours have been spotted out in the wild, which could point to a more solid release window for the title.
The Pokemon Company has posted job listings for localisers and translators to work on its newest project. This would mean that work on the new title for Nintendo Switch may be nearly complete since localisation tasks tend to be completed during the later stages of a game's development process.
Originally spotted by Twitter user Pixelpar, these job listings state editors are being hired on a six-month contract, with work on localisation targeting completion between April and June.
Previous mainline Pokemon games for the 3DS – Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon – began their translation process in early January, too, and those games saw a launch on November 18 2016… does that mean we can see Nintendo planning a similar schedule for the first Switch Pokemon game?
It would make sense.
We already know Nintendo is aiming for a '2018 or later' release date for the Pokemon Switch RPG, and we imagine for Nintendo to hit its sales target of 20 million Switches sold by the end of the year, it's going to want to leverage some of Pokemon's infamous selling power.
We're still waiting on an official release date from Nintendo – as well as an actual title for the game – but we expect to hear more information soon.
