Pokemon GO developers have finally announced the Pokemon GO Community Day for January 2019.

And as expected the next Community Day Pokemon will be Gen 2 Starter Pokemon, Totodile.

Which makes sense, since we've already had Community Days for fellow Gen 2 Starter Pokemon Chikorita and Cyndaquil.

Here's the official message from the recent Pokemon GO Blog Post.

"Mark your calendars for January Community Day, featuring the Water-type Pokemon Totodile, during the second weekend of January!"

This next Community Day is scheduled to take place at the following times:

  • Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and India: January 12, 2019, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. UTC (GMT +0)
  • The Americas and Greenland: January 12, 2019, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. PST (GMT −8)
  • Asia-Pacific: January 13, 2019, from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. JST (GMT +9)

In addition to increased spawning for Totodile on the day, the Lure Modules will last for three hours and incubators will work four times as fast!

Equally, as per the usual system, there's a special treat for anyone who evolves Totodile into it's final form on the day.

As such anyone who evolves a Croconaw during the event or up to one hour after the event can obtain a Feraligatr that knows a special move that's not normally obtainable.

However, for the time being, it's not currently known what this move is.

Will there be a new Shiny?

Niantic never normally announces whether they will release a new Shiny with each Community Day.

However, after a full year of doing so, it's pretty much a given at this stage that the Community Day will also introduce a new Shiny into the game.

And by that we of course mean Totodile.
