Pokemon GO Update 1 –

Yup, it's pretty much confirmed now as per the new tweet underneath:

"Get prepared… Trainer Battles are coming soon to Pokémon GO"

The official Pokemon Go twitter account has this afternoon given their biggest hint yet that the game is preparing to roll out the games long-awaited PVP features.

A slightly cryptic series of tweets this afternoon has shown a new in-game image of a bog standard Pokemon GO trainer avatar stood in what looks very much like your typical Pokemon GO arena.

Without going full Pokemon nerd, even the angle at which you're facing the trainer is reminiscent of just about any Pokemon GO battle from the mainline series of games.

At the moment it's unclear if this is going to be a feature for use with other trainers, a la the new trading system, or if this will be something solely to be used against AI.

Although, given Niantic has been teasing PVP as far back as the games very first trailer, you'd imagine this is something for Players to enjoy together.

Earlier this year in an interview with Polish publication Gram, Anne Beuttenmüller, Niantics head of marketing for the EMEA region, said the developer is currently working on the feature and it will appear towards the end of 2018.

“We are constantly improving the elements that we have available in the game and the next thing that we want to add at the end of this year is the PvP mode,” Beuttenmüller said via a Google translation.

It's always hard to tell exactly whether these features will be pushed back, but the latest series of tweets certainly gives the impression that something is coming soon, hopefully before the end of the year.

Stay tuned for more…
