Japanese violinist Akiko Suwanai shot to fame when at the age of 18 she became the youngest winner of the International Tchaikovsky Competition in 1990.

Partnered by Swiss conductor Mario Venzago, her offering of Mozart's most popular violin concerto, together with a colourful Mendelssohn overture and Brahms' second symphony, was one that drew a full house and pleased the audience.
