Sony has had a blinder of a year with PlayStation VR.
Though PSVR may not be the most popular component of Sony's home console set-up, the game-changing peripheral has had an outstandingly good year.
Sony has managed to leverage the power of some of its biggest brands to support PSVR this year, and has also introduced wholly new mascots to the headset in order to show off what it can really achieve.
Added to that, we've got some of the most exciting games of the year releasing on the platform over the next few weeks – and a commitment from PlayStation boss Shuhei Yoshida that we're only going to see bigger and better games on the platform going forward.
All in all – you need a PSVR.

Lucky for you then, we're expecting to see some impressive deals manifest around PSVR over Black Friday. We've already seen Sony officially announce that it will drop the price of the device for Black Friday, with the headset retailing at $199 in the US.
Ahead of the UK deals being announced, we are taking the official stance of saying this: you should pick up a PSVR headset whilst it's as cheap as it's going to get.
We have already seen PSVR get the addition of Tetris Effect in the past few weeks, which is being roundly reported to be 'a Game of the Year' contender by many critics and consumers and has amazingly good reviews (which currently rests at 89 on Metacritic).
Next week, we're also going to see the launch of the phenomenal Beat Sabre on the platform: a game that uses motion controls and makes players use lightsabres to smash blocks in a rhythm-action setup, it has the chance of being a system-seller.
Sony has also announced it will be doubling down on 'deeper' VR experiences
In an interview with Japanese PS Blog, Sony executive Shuhei Yoshida noted that users want games that they can engage with for a 'longer time'.
“Based on such expectations, I came up with the strategy of making full-scale games of larger scale in the second and third years.
"Titles with a deeper gaming will continue to increase in the future," he explained.
When asked for example Yoshida noted that future releases such as Astro Bot Rescue Mission and Firewall Zero Hour are good examples of how this could impact the VR system.
Looking further into the future there's also games like Blood & Truth and Déraciné which both feel like more robust games and not 'experiences' which has often been the main stick to beat the PSVR with.
So with games like Tetris Effect, AstroBot and Beat Sabre rounding out the platform, there really has never been a better time to get involved with PSVR.
