PewDiePie appears to have lost his verification on YouTube after the platform rolled out controversial new changes – and people definitely arent happy.

YouTube recently announced the change to their verification system, reasoning in a post that: As YouTube has grown and become more complex, we need a new way to verify the identity of channels and help you find the official channel youre looking for.

The change to the system has resulted in some big names appearing to lose their coveted grey tick – including PewDiePie.

Fans of the top YouTuber, who recently hit 100 million subscribers, have been baffled as his tick appears to have disappeared on the mobile app, but is still around when using YouTube on desktop.

To put it simply, no one knows what on earth is going on.

BRUHHHH @pewdiepie GOT UNVERIFIED, one shocked fan wrote on Twitter, with another adding: Youtube goes out of their way to make a unique play button memento when Pewdiepie hit 100 million subs. They also just unverified him in last nights changes.

However, others are claiming that the Swedish star appearing to lose his tick is simply a glitch on the mobile app, with even YouTubes official channel seemingly losing its verification on the app.

Meanwhile, some big names have been speaking out against the change, with JackSepticEye urging his fellow creators: Everyone getting unverified on YT today. Its a slap in the face but try not let it get to you and demotivate you. Keep creating and making cool s***.

Beauty guru James Charles added: Im really sorry to the creators who are being unverified on @YouTube today. This decision is really pointless and its yet another change not a single person asked for.

PLEASE know that you are still valid as a creator and I hope that a stupid checkmark doesnt discourage you!

YouTube later clarified: No one lost a verification badge today–If you received an email that your channel will no longer be verified, this was just an advanced notice & you can appeal.

The checkmark has never appeared on YouTube mobile channel pages (this will be added soon).
