Oscar-winning actress Emma Stone says she is still finding her voice after recently turning 30.
The La La Land star admitted she "got gloomy for about a week" after her birthday on 6 November.
But she added she "realised the most interesting part about becoming an adult is most things become bittersweet. I'm still finding my voice".
Stone, born in Arizona, stars in Yorgos Lanthimos's historical drama, The Favourite, set at the court of Queen Anne and co-starring Olivia Colman and Rachel Weisz.
Of working with Stone and delving into the queen's well-documented bisexuality, Colman told Vogue magazine: "I put a damp sponge between my legs [during an intimate scene], because I thought it would be funny for Emma to find.
"You can see in her face the sudden look of horror."
In another scene, Stone's character Abigail Masham aids the monarch's gout-ridden legs by laying raw steaks on them.

"The steaks were very real and there was a fire behind us and they were getting very room temperature," Stone said.
The movie tells the fictionalised story of Queen Anne and her favourite courtier, Sarah Churchill (Weisz), whose relationship is interrupted by the arrival of Abigail – an ambitious newcomer in court and a servant.
Reflecting on life lessons, Stone said she has come to the realisation it is "OK if not everybody likes you," adding: "So that was a major lesson, not falling over myself to win over the unwinnable.
"Nobody knows what they're doing! We're all just a bunch of people trying to figure out how to get through the day."
Stone, who won the best actress Oscar in 2017 for her role in La La Land, has taken the last year off work and admitted she spent 2018 being "drifty".
"I haven't worked since last December – by the time I work again, it will have been 14 months," she said.
Stone previously said she found it challenging being an American among a British cast, and found it difficult mastering the accent.
