Terminator: Resistance – maybe it wont be that bad?

A new single-player, first person shooter set in the Terminator universe is out this year, but oddly has nothing to do with the new film.

Good news! Theres going to be a new Terminator game.

Bad news! Its from a publisher and developer youve probably never heard of.

Weird news! Its only based on the first two movies and doesnt seem to have anything to do with new film Terminator: Dark Fate.

The rights to the Terminator movies are famously complicated though, so were assuming that the ones to make video games based on the original Terminator and Terminator 2: Judgment Day were the only ones going.

Or perhaps everyone involved realised that they were the only two good ones anyway, so why bother with the rest?

The story is set in a post-apocalyptic L.A., 30 years after Judgment Day, and has you playing as Private Jacob Rivers – a soldier in the Resistance Pacific Division.

We dont see how it can have much to do with the first two movies if its already set after Judgment Day but the biggest concern is that publisher Reef and developer Teyon are the same team behind the less than marvellous Rambo: The Video Game from a few years back.

Apart from anything, the fact that the game is only being announced now but is out on 15 November certainly doesnt bode well.

The bullet points below are straight from the press release though, and Terminator: Resistance will be released on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
