There's going to be a lot of fallout from this teaser

Theres going to be a lot of fallout from this teaser

Fallout has a new rival, as Ubisoft hint at the next Far Cry – ahead of a full reveal tomorrow at The Game Awards.

SubnauticaGame review: Subnautica on PS4 is an underwater survival horror

Were going to have to give this news story a spoiler section, but here are the basics: Ubisoft has released the teaser below for what they describe as a new Far Cry game.

Theres no indication of whether itll be a numbered sequel, but the implication seems to be that its not just DLC.

As you can see, the setting appears to be a post-apocalyptic one, which immediately brings to mind Fallout 76 – which features a very similar-looking landscape.

Technically its not the first time a Far Cry game has had a post-apocalyptic setting though, but the tone of the trailer doesnt seem at all similar to the 80s parody that was Blood Dragon.

In other words, youll have to wait till The Game Awards, which start at 1.30am on Thursday night/Friday morning, to find out for sure whats going on.

*** SPOILER WARNING ***

*** DONT READ ANY FURTHER IF YOU HAVENT BEATEN FAR CRY 5 ***

Far Cry fans will instantly realise that not only does the initial setting seem to be the same as Far Cry 5 but that the game had a surprise ending where the religious cult set off a nuclear attack.

The obvious assumption is that this is a direct follow-up, give or take a few decades, and that it may even use a variation of the same map.

That would make it the first Far Cry game in a long while to continue the story of the previous one, but whether itd be called Far Cry 5-2, or something similar, remains to be seen.

Alternatively, Ubisoft could be treating it as a separate spin-off, similar to Far Cry Primal, and the similarities to Far Cry 5 are just being played up by the teaser.
