It was an emotional day for Michael Douglas who was joined by his nearest and dearest

Hollywood icon Michael Douglas has finally received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

And it only took the best part of 50 years.

On-hand to support the Ant-Man actor was his elderly father Kirk Douglas, wife Catherine Zeta Jones, and eldest son Cameron making it a family affair to remember.

Michael, 74, was clearly touched by the support from his loved ones on his momentous occasion and at one point, kissed Kirk, aged 101, on the lips in a sweet moment of affection.

The Basic Instinct actor also planted a kiss on his wife Catherine, whom he has been married to for 18 years.

In a heartfelt speech, Michael notably thanked his father Kirk, who is one of Hollywoods greats with iconic roles in movies like Spartacus and Champion.

Michael said of the Hollywood legend: My dad is here. In a month, Kirk turns 102 years old.

So those of you who took the under on him taking 80, you lost a long time ago. It means so much to me, dad, that youre here today. Ill say it simply and with all my heart: “Im so proud to be your son”.

During the ceremony, Michael was honoured by his longtime friend and China Syndrome co-star Jane Fonda, who said in her own speech: Michael Douglas and I share something far more specific and unique than acting together… we both come from families referred to by the press as Hollywood royalty.

Both of our fathers were movie legends, and thankfully, Kirk Douglas is still with us. Stepping into a family business, any family business, is always challenging. Look at the Trumps or the Corleones.

The Grace & Frankie actress continued: Carving out your own identity in a world-famous family business is especially difficult when parent and child are the same gender.

I believe it was easier for me to follow in my fathers footsteps than it was for Michael to follow in his fathers footsteps.
