The MediEvil remake now has a free demo

Sonys answer to a Nintendo Direct has announced everything from Civilization VI to a special edition Death Stranding PS4 Pro.

It was only a little more than 20 minutes long but Sonys latest State of Play event did manage to pack in a lot of important announcements, most obviously the release date for The Last Of Us Part II and the story trailer for Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare.

But there were lots of smaller announcements too, including what wouldve been the surprise annoucement (if it hadnt leaked a few hours earlier) of a free MediEvil demo.

Its available to download today from the PlayStation Store and if you beat it then you can get an exclusive helmet that can then be carried through into the full game. But itll only be available until 6 October.

A number of brand-new games were also announced, such as Humanity from Tetris Effect and Rez Infinite developer Enhance. It doesnt seem as if Tetsuya Mizuguchi has too much hands-on involvement but it certainly looks visually interesting, with mobs of ordinary people fighting and co-operating with each other.

Arise: A Simple Story is also all-new and seems to be an indie game influenced by the likes of Journey, but with stronger platform elements and a storyline involving you awakening in the afterlife (we think).

Also announced was a release date for Wattam, from the creator of Katamari Damacy, which will be out in December; while fellow indie game After Party will be out on 29 October, and Rockstars L.A. Noire: The VR Case Files is out now.

Sid Meiers Civilization VI will be appearing on PlayStation 4 (and Xbox One) on 22 November – the first time a mainline entry has been on either console – with the expansions available as either DLC extras or in an all-in-one bundle.

Sony also gave some time to the PlayStation VR, with perhaps the most exciting annoucement, at least for Sega fans, being the fact that Space Channel 5 VR Kinda Funky News Flash! is out this autumn.

In other news therell be a Death Stranding limited edition PS4 Pro and controller available when the game launches on 8 November. Although were not sure the sickly looking controller is going to appeal to anyone but hardcore fans.
