Real-life, 100 per cent certified Madonna dropped a surprise performance on revelers at the iconic Stonewall Inn in Manhattan at midnight on Monday, just like a prayer.

The singers 13-year-old son David Banda, dressed in a top hat and leather bow tie, was her right-hand man as she launched into acoustic versions of Like A Prayer and I Cant Help Falling in Love with You.

Madonna was named an official ambassador of the Stonewall Inn last month and will reportedly celebrate with them at New York Pride in June, which will be renamed World Pride or Stonewall 50.

2019 will mark the 50th anniversary of a police raid at the venue in June 1969 that sparked a series of riots and violent demonstrations, an event considered to have led the fight for LGBT rights.

During her surprise performance, Madonna gave a rousing speech about love and equal rights, saying: In this new year, lets commit to disarming people with unexpected acts of kindness.
