Cara De La Hoyde and Nathan Massey delighted fans after reuniting last year, just before welcoming son Freddie together.

But while the couple, who won Love Island together back in 2016, were full of compliments to each other publicly during their brief split, it turns out that wasnt actually how they felt.

In fact, the mum-of-one revealed she couldnt stand her now-fiancé in the time they were apart.

We had months where we didnt even talk! It was so hard because people were asking me about Nathan; he was there at the pregnancy scan but we didnt really like each other, she explained.

But in the back of my head I was thinking, anything you say is out there forever and I didnt want Fred to grow up and see that Nathan and I had slated each other in the press. I went on This Morning and I was singing his praises and in my head I was thinking, I cant stand him [laughs]! Im so thankful neither of us did that.

Freds already going to get slated enough in the playground because his mum and dad were on Love Island!

Discussing their brief break-up, Nathan admitted it was the best thing for their relationship, and they are now stronger than ever.

I hold my hands up, I needed to grow up and we needed time away from each other, he added to OK! Magazine. That time apart was the best thing weve ever done.

And it seems as though the time apart was definitely needed as the carpenter got down on one knee just a few months after they reunited.

Nathan popped the question as he returned to the Love Island villa with Cara, and set up a little treasure hunt around the property.

Side note: is that not the cutest proposal idea ever?

While the couple are currently more loved-up than ever, and are planning their wedding together, the same cant be said for other Love Island winners.

In fact, Cathan (it works) are officially the only winners still together after Jack Fincham and Dani Dyer announced their split, last week.
