Lady Gaga broke down in tears when delivering her speech at the Cinematheque Awards on Thursday night.

The 32-year-old took the opportunity to thank her A Star Is Born co-star Bradley Cooper for helping her be Stefani again, and couldnt contain her emotions.

While shimmering in a nude and silver fishtail dress, the Bad Romance songstress wiped her eyes as she praised her new found friend.

She said: I ran from Stefani for a long time. I put on a superhero cape and called myself Lady Gaga.

You challenged me to deep dive into a place where I had to see her again, be Stefani again.

Other celebrities to grace the red carpet were Charmed actress Alyssa Milano, who rocked a beige satin dress, and Jennifer Garner who sported a black turtle neck and tutu.

However, overall it was Bradleys night, as he received the American Cinematheque Award to honour his achievements as director.

Talking about his masterpiece, the star told Variety just how scared he was to release it into the world.

He said: Right before Venice [film festival], I was terrified. I didnt realise I was terrified until we were in the boat riding up and it was pouring rain.

I remember thinking Im glad its raining. This is good.

He added: I was literally telling myself out loud before we arrived at the theatre: no matter what happens, please dont let the outside response contaminate what you experienced, which was having an idea and inspiration and seeing it all the way through the end and making the exact movie that I wanted to make.
