Joaquin Phoenix and Rooney Mara put on a very cute display at the premiere of Joker in Los Angeles overnight.

The pair, who reportedly got engaged earlier this year after dating for three years, were all handsy as Lion actor Rooney celebrated her partners turn in the Todd Phillips-directed flick.

Having already garnered a bunch of praise from plaudits ahead of the release later this week, Joaquin, 44, was looking chuffed on the red carpet.

Posing separately from his fiancée, he wore a sharp black suit and smiled for photographs as he continued to make his way around the world promoting the flick.

Rooney, 34, looked similarly glam in a two-piece frock and her hair tied back in a bun with a black headband, as she stopped for photos.

Guiding his wife-to-be into the theatre, Joaquin was then seen placing a hand behind Rooneys back as they walked along after sharing a laugh together.

Theres a lot to celebrate!

After going public at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival, it was reported back in July the two had become engaged, according to Us Weekly who has confirmed the news.

Joaquin and Rooney were rumoured to be engaged back in May when the actress was spotted with a huge diamond sparkler while running errands in LA.

The couple met in 2013 on the set of Her – however, they didnt start dating until a few years later following the film Mary Magdalene, before hitting the Cannes closing ceremony red carpet together two years ago.

A source previously claimed the pair had a blessing ceremony back in June 2017 to cement their commitment to one another.

While Rooney and Joaquin have kept their long-term relationship relatively under wraps, an insider previously told Grazia magazine the actress was smitten with Joaquin.

Rooney is smitten and she has broken her vow to never live in LA in order to be closer to Joaquin, they said. All of her friends knew it was serious as soon as that happened because shes always hated LA.

It comes as the new Warner Bros movie, based on the iconic Batman character Joker, is facing widespread criticism for its portrayal of a sympathetic outcast who turns to gun violence in the face of his perceived loneliness.
