Iwan Thomas has given an update on the health of his premature son Teddy after a terrifying dash to the ICU on Saturday.

The Olympic medallist said his newborn was slowly getting stronger, though he was not totally out of trouble while he continues to be monitored in the hospital.

Posting new pictures of his five-day-old child, the 44-year-old said Teddys health had gone downhill pretty fast when doctors moved him to an intensive care unit with breathing difficulties hours after the birth.

Iwan wrote: Since my last post, unfortunately, the little fella went downhill pretty fast but slowly he seems to be getting stronger although will be here a while yet.

He added: Although some days are dark [we] try to believe in the power of positive thinking, keep strong, keep believing & keep fighting.

Teddy is being cared for by staff at the Princess Anne Hospital in Southampton.

Iwan thanked NHS doctors, nurses and midwives for saving his sons life and said close friends and family, as well as strangers on social media, have given him faith that Teddy will pull through.

The TV personality was informed of his sons sharp decline in health not long after hed returned home the happiest man alive after meeting his baby.

He then called Sunday the worst day of his life, looking at his everything with tubes everywhere in an incubator.

Iwan has kept the babys mothers name private, previously revealing he wanted to keep his public life away from his private life, but he shared with concerned fans that Mum doing great too.

Tough time for all but shes been amazing, he added.
