SINGAPORE – While the Lakerol pastille can be found in countries all over the world today, including Singapore, the very first boxes were produced and sold in Gavle, Sweden, when Swedish wholesaler Adolf Alhgren began flavouring mixtures of menthol, liquorice and gum arabic back in 1909.

More than a century later, the historic Lakerol candy factory is being transformed into an environmentally friendly and socially inclusive public housing project designed by Singapore-based sustainable architecture firm, Pomeroy Studio.
