Halo Infinite - it looks nice but what is it?

Halo Infinite – couch multiplayer is in

The creators of the next Halo have offered a few new details on the game, including customisation options based on Halo Reach.

BelowGame review: Below is above average difficulty

Halo Infinite was one of Microsofts big reveals at E3 this year but despite an impressive looking trailer they never really said much about it – and crucially never mentioned what formats it will be released on.

Many assume it will be a next gen title (although it may also be released on Xbox One) but while theyve not touched that subject developer 343 Industries have given a few extra hints over the course of the year, including confirming that its basically Halo 6 in all but name.

Theyve also said that it will not feature a Battle Royale mode, but in a recent livestream they let slip that the game will include four-player splitscreen support.

Thats very rare for a first person shooter nowadays but is likely a callback to Halos early days when the original Halo: Combat Evolved launched without online support.

The developers also mentioned working on a new engine for the game and that the in-game armour customisation for characters was inspired by Halo Reach.

Some of their other comments were vaguer, such as promising the coolest design yet for Master Chief, but they also promised that anyone that hits level 152 in Halo 5 will get a special unlock in Halo Infinite.

The predominate theory amongst fans is that Halo Infinite wont launch until at least 2020, although there may possibly be some limited alpha testing in 2019.

Much will depend on when exactly Microsoft decide to launch the Xbox Two, and we probably wont know more about that until E3 in June.
