Red Dead Redemption II – are you worried about spoilers?

Maximum surprise

Ive played Life Is Strange 2 now and was very impressed with it. So I returned to your review and read, and agreed with it as well. I was glad to see there were no real spoilers, but theres still no way I wouldve read it beforehand, except maybe to glimpse at the score (which I didnt need to do because I trust Dontnod).

Now I admit that I am extremely spoiler-phobic but I just wonder how many other people are like this? I try to avoid any trailers beyond the annoucement and maybe one or two others. Obviously I have to get an idea of what they games like but like movie trailers I dont want everything spoiled before I get a chance to experience first myself.

This is easier than it sounds because so many games are sequels in some way, so I do have a good idea of what Im getting with a minimum of specific information. Maybe Im being silly but the idea of sitting down to play a game and knowing virtually nothing about it is very exciting to me. Red Dead Redemption II is the one Im most looking forward to and I definitely dont need to see any more on that to know Im getting it.

Fan fiction

I know you warned us but all the Bowsette business is straight up creepy. But I guess thats Rule 34 for you. Ive never really blamed Nintendo for being wary of the Internet, because they try to keep things family friendly but people are just flat out odd when they think theyre anonymous. I mean, just look (or rather dont look) at all the fan art and fanfic you get around Sonic The Hedgehog and Final Fantasy and whatever.

If people keep it to themselves I suppose its not hurting anyone but its when they start demanding companies take notice of their fan theories and characters that things start to get extra weird. Will Bowsette end up as DLC in Super Smash Bros., for example? Im willing to bet the idea has at least been floating around already.

I just pity the poor parent that has to explain whats going on. Although I do think Nintendo has to take some of the blame on themselves. I mean, what is going on with Peachette anyway?

PC port

Just wondering what everyone thinks of the possibility of Command & Conquer Ultimate Collection appearing on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One? The reasons I think this should be done based on the fact that 17 titles are included in the collection and there are a lot of Command & Conquer fans and the entire series has sold over 30 million games. So if Command & Conquer: The Ultimate Collection was announced for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 a lot of fans of this franchise would be highly thrilled and it would sell very well given the fact you would be getting 17 games.

If you look at the franchises past success its hard to argue why this shouldnt be done and considering we have not seen any ports of the previous games this I feel would be a great way for EA to win back a lot of fans and to make money. Which wouldnt be very hard for them to do at all with releasing Command & Conquer: The Ultimate Collection for current gen consoles or next gen in the future.

GC: Havent you written in about this before? Maybe theyd consider releasing one game to support the Xbox Ones use of a mouse and keyboard but theres no way anyone, least of all EA, is going to go to the trouble of porting all those old PC games.

Quick delivery

Well I just cant believe it, I pre-ordered myself a 1TB Xbox One S console with two joypads and FIFA 19 from Amazon only yesterday. Not being a Prime member, or paying any extra for next day delivery, I expected the shipment between 3 to 5 working days. So I was expecting it on Monday to be fair as the standard FIFA 19 game was only officially released today.

So anyway, I gets a knock at my front door today at approximately 12:05 pm and there was my Xbox One S and FIFA game all delivered by Amazon. It does make you think if Amazon can do that turnaround with deliveries so fast, and me not having to pay anything extra for the delivery, what is the point in the first place paying for next day delivery or being a Prime member? Amazing service from Amazon!

Wait till the next one

Since the Dreamcast I have bought all but one major home and portable console. The one I have not bought is the Xbox One and that is purelydue to a lack of top class exclusives. There are certainly exclusives I would play if I already owned or had access to the console but none that have convinced me to actually purchase the console itself.

Last generation my PlayStation 3 was stolen and I ended up buying a replacement for The Last Of Us, which was in hindsight a stupid decision as the game received an enhanced PlayStation 4 port. Given the trend of updated ports and how Microsoft are very good at providing backwards compatibility there seems to be little reason to buy an Xbox One now. This is because the Xbox One games I have a passing interest in are likely to be available on the Xbox Two which will hopefully receive an exclusive of its own that will convince me to purchase it.

Worth a bundle

Ive taken advantage of one of the really good Xbox One S deals that seem to have started this weekend. Its from Argos and was £230 for the 1TB model, two controllers, and Fifa 19 – which I will sell to CeX for £36. So £194 effectively, which is pretty good.

My main reason is to replace my PlayStation 3 as my streaming player and to play Halo again. Base model consoles are a really good option for all round entertainment boxes if, like me, you dont have a smart TV and still like to pick up a bargain film on DVD/Blu-ray.

Going to pick up Game Pass while Im collecting it. Although I find most streaming services offer good value, when it comes to the gaming variety I wonder if I would extract my monies worth out of them due to games taking much longer to consume than TV/film. But the fact you get all first party exclusives with Game Pass means it just needs one desired new release like Forza Horizon 4 and its paid for itself for six months.

Shrunken audience

One thing Nintendo Switch Online has most definitely broke is the amount of players who are online now, which is understandable.

Trying to get an online tournament game of Mario Tennis Aces in particular, after the first round, is nigh on impossible these days!

Extra power

Regarding Xbox One X and PS4 Pro, I disagree with GameCentral completely and think even at 1080p these consoles are better options than the base models, as you get better visuals and often a 1080p/60fps option.

60fps simply feels better in any game if its an option. Everything feels more fluent and controls feel sharper. And visually it even appears smoother to the eye, which helps improve the way the game looks.

Regarding power lines, they are meant to extend the range of signal of your Wi-Fi from your router throughout your property. So if you are unable to run direct cable from your router to your console due to the distance, or if your Wi-Fi signal is weak in the room where your console is, you could use a power line to increase the strength of signal in that area.

The only real features I would think about is that some offer the option to run an Ethernet cable from it to your hardware in same way you would from router. It in theory may offer a more stable connection than the Wi-Fi and possibly a faster one depending on the speed of the connection and the potential speed you get from your console.

I found it was better to use with my PC in my bedroom, but I had a Wi-Fi adapter that is several years old and that didnt give the best connection. I got over three times the speed via the power line.

GC: In our opinion the upgrade consoles offer trivial improvements for the amount of money involved, especially as things like 60fps are not consistent across all games. Certainly, the Xbox One X and PS4 Pro are the best option if you dont already own the base model but thats not what the reader was asking.

Looks like Fortnite blatantly used to have boob physics and they forgot to take it out properly. Quick reaction from Epic Games again though, they really do always seem to be on the ball.

I didnt realise Sony hadnt scheduled a PSX for this year. Thats got to me they havent got anything new to show, which in turn means the PlayStation 5 probably is very close now. Anyone willing to bet on a spring reveal and Christmas release?

This weeks Hot Topic

The subject for this weekends Inbox follows the annoucement of the PlayStation Classic mini console and asks what games you think should be included?

The console will contain 20 games, but only five have been confirmed so far: Final Fantasy VII, Jumping Flash!, R4 Ridge Racer Type 4, Tekken 3, and Wild ARMs. So we want to know what you think the other 15 should be?

You dont have to write in with 15 suggestions, just the ones you feel most passionate about. And please dont just write a list of games – we want to know why you think they should be included and what they mean to you and gaming history in general.
