What will be its real name?

The evening Inbox wonders why Fable IV hasnt been announced yet, as one reader is upset at the lack of Modern Warfare news at E3.

Infinite ideas

Not sure why neither Sony or Microsoft are saying what their consoles are called, especially since Sonys is bound to be PlayStation 5, but I wonder if theres been any new clues as to what Project Scarlett will be? I dont think codenames ever have anything to do with the real names, and Im guessing they wont use a number, so Xbox Infinite seems a good guess, yes? Matches with Halo Infinite and makes sense in terms of them wanting it to be on ever device.

What Im not clear on is if theyre going to release the base model and the Xbox One X equivalent at the same time. Ive got the impression that they will, which is going to create some difficult decisions at launch. I think its the best choice because I really dont want to have to buy the base model at launch because thats the only one and then be confronted with the more powerful version two years later.

I think that would be dishonest, but if they do release them both at the same time then I personally would go for the most expensive option. I dont like the idea of mid-generation upgrades. The Nintendo stuff is fine because the innards are the same but I dont want to find out my expensive new console only has a half life of a couple of years.

Between generations

So Im confused, is Elden Ring a current gen or next gen game? Considering they showed essentially nothing of it at E3 that implies were not going to see anything about it for months and, well… the PlayStation 5 and Project Scarlett are going to be out next Christmas. Is Bandai Namco really going to want to be releasing that at the same time or even after they come out? What is the release date?

Doesnt the timing suggest that its probably going to be an early next gen game and they just cant say it yet? Theres so many games that are due out next year, a lot of them from Sony, that the new consoles are in danger of being lost in a sea of what will be by then last gen games.

Thats probably not that different from this gen, except I hated the first two years of the PlayStation 4, where nothing any good came out and it felt like the whole thing had started way before it was ready. I guess from Sonys point of view things turned out well so theres no reason to change, but it all sounds like a mess to me, and thats even before you to take into account streaming.

Unwanted memo

Just in case I missed a memo, are we still none the wiser about the remaster Bluepoint is currently working on?

I need to know if its Demons Souls or not as Ive been putting off playing it on PlayStation 3 just in case its that but the wait is getting a bit silly now.

GC: The only news from Bluepoint lately has been the very sad annoucement that co-founder Andy ONeil has passed away, at the age of 47. He was also technical lead on Metroid Prime, so thats a great loss to the industry. So Bluepoint probably arent in a talkative mood at the moment.

Unanswered Call

Was there any Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare update/news/previews at E3? If not do you know when we likely see some?

Apart from the big hitters Im quietly looking forward to Deathloop, seems interesting and the gameplay should be solid.
Ranny2011

GC: Activision didnt have a stand at E3 this year. They were behind closed doors, but only showing the two clips that have already been reported on. Its not clear why they were being so reticent, but they implied to us they had their own event planned for later in the year.

Mutually beneficial

So, Ive been wondering, the free games that feature every month on PS Plus, do the people who make those have any say that their games are being given away for free or is it entirely Sonys discretion?

Or is there some sort of payment/compensation given to them? Because obviously theyd prefer people buy their games, not be given them free.
Liam

GC: Theyre compensated, or otherwise Sony would essentially be pirating their games. Companies are usually very keen on the idea, especially if they have lucrative DLC or microtransactions that they can tempt a much wider audience into buying them.

Only first

Just so I dont potentially embarrass myself on this weekends Hot Topic, do Cyberpunk 2077 and The Outer Worlds have the ability to switch to third person like in The Elder Scrolls and Fallout?

I know its not a major thing, but looking at the in-depth character customisation options for them, it would seem a given, right? I would like to be able to see my character – in the game world and not just on a menu screen – see how pretty I am and how fly I look in either my cyber-noir threads or space adventurer armour. It also helps build attachment to my character.

Naturally, when it comes to the shooty shooting and stabby stabbing bits you go back to first person just like you do in Elder Scrolls and Fallout. That would be nice, yes?
DMR

GC: Both games have stated they wont have third person views. That could change but probably not at launch.

Fabled reveal

I didnt miss something did I, GC? There was not a peep about the new Fable game?

That makes two E3s in a row where its been a nudge-nudge, wink-wink open secret and yet hasnt been announced. Any word on whats happening with it?
Sparky the Yak

GC: Nothing new. The theory is that they didnt show it because its only on Project Scarlett, whereas Halo Infinite is also on Xbox One. Which means there may not be an annoucement until next year now.

First reveal

I will be gutted if Cyberpunk 2077 ends up being a disappointment but the amount of negative press is slowly building up. It made me realise that weve been hearing about this game for a while now – two E3s and a Gamescom Read More – Source
