Whether you have seen it or not, Game of Thrones has become a worldwide phenomenon, with fans staying up until the early hours to watch the first episode of the eighth and final season.

But one of the main stars Kit Harington has revealed he "did not get" the fantasy drama at first and remembers asking himself "What is this crock of s***?" when he read the pilot in 2009.

In an interview with Esquire, the actor, who has played Jon Snow in the show since the first episode in 2011, admitted he thought it was "kind of weird".

He said: "I remember thinking, I don't understand this. I'm going to have to read this again. And I read it again. And I'm like, I still don't get this s*** at all.

"I think it's kind of weird, but it's HBO and alright, let's do it. I would love to get this.

"And I think that's what people feel when they start watching it. Or when they hear about it. Like, No. Fantasy-weird.

"But you watch it, you invest in it, and you go, okay, I'll buy into this world. Fine. I'm in."

Fans have waited almost two years to see how the hugely successful TV show will end.

And after the opening episode of the final season, many took to social media to voice their disappointment at having to wait another seven days to see what happens next.

Harington also admitted to the American men's magazine that he "did not give a f***" if people feel let down by it, "because everyone tried their hardest".
