Nintendo Switch game news – Update 1
Despite various trademarks, leaks and hints that Nintendo would be unveiling some Metroid content at the show, it looks like we're going to have to wait even longer before we get to see the newest entry in the series manifest on Switch.
Stay tuned, as we could hear some news from various members of the games development teams on Friday, no doubt responding to many fans upset at not seeing the game during the Awards Show.

Original story – The Game Awards 2018 is closing in on us, and as the big show gets nearer, we're starting to hear more about what we can expect to see at the event.
In a tweet published last week, Geoff Keighley (presenter and driving force behind the massive show) announced there would be no less than TEN new game announcements at The Game Awards 2018.
We know what some of those may be – Keighley and company will be showing Obsidian Entertainment's brand new RPG, for example. We also know that Avengers: Infinity War directors, the Russo Brothers, will be hosting on-stage – expect more news on the Avengers Project and possibly an Avengers 4 trailer, too.
But a new listing from a Swedish retailer suggests that we'll also see something from the long-dormant Metroid series, too.
Swedish retailer Inet has posted a listing for a Nintendo Switch version of the Metroid Prime Trilogy, sparking theories that we're going to see the collection announced at the show.
The trilogy isn't a new game and was previously released on the Wii and Wii U. The game collects Metroid Prime, Metroid Prime 2: Echoes, and Metroid Prime 3: Corruption (the first two were GameCube games, the latter a Wii title).
We're hoping the announcement of this port will be a taster for a bigger announcement: that of Metroid Prime 4.
There is currently a lot of speculation that the game will show up at the annual event, thanks to a picture that host Geoff Keighley posted on social media.
This week, Keighley posted a photo of himself standing with Wolfgang Puck and Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime.
Reggie was wearing a shirt with Metroid branding on it, leading many to believe the game will be shown off at the show.
Metroid Prime 4 will likely be a sequel to Metroid Prime 3: Corruption – a game that released over a decade ago in 2007.
It's not yet been revealed whether or not the game will feature the same sort of visual style as the 2007 entry in the series, but we're sure we'll see more information about the game when the next trailer is released.
